1. Social Connection
Pancake Day could be an opportunity to get the family or a few friends together. This could mean spending time with the kids, sharing the activity of making pancakes & choosing toppings. Or it could be a full-on “Pancake Party” with creative toppings & decorations!
2. Laughter
As Charlie Chaplin once said; “A day without laughter is a day wasted”.
I know my attempts at flipping pancakes will usually cause a few giggles of laughter when it inevitably goes wrong** or celebratory cheers on the rare occasion it goes well. Either way it lifts everyone’s mood and creates a sense of shared joy.
3. Relaxation
For some, the idea of making pancakes & dealing with the resulting mess, might sound like the least relaxing activity possible. For others, it could be an opportunity to disengage from the stress of the day, for a few moments of mindfulness or a chance to be creative.
**Why does the first pancake always go wrong? Is this “a thing”? Do most people just accept the first attempt is destined for the bin?
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not going to let my pancake incompetence ruin the day. It’s all part of the fun!
